Cancer daycare and chemotherapy: common billing patterns
Day-care chemo units often bill drugs, pre-medications, nursing, and chair or facility fees on the same visit—knowing the pattern reduces confusion.
Many oncology day units bundle a visit into chemotherapy administration, supportive drugs (anti-nausea, steroids), IV access or line care, and sometimes chair or facility fees. Labs may be billed the same day or through the main lab account.
Cross-check the drug names against your prescription or printout from the unit. If two similar drug lines appear, ask whether one is a brand or a compound, or a correction—politely, with the date of service in hand.
